OPERATION INTERDEPENDENCE
03/04/10

North Hills, CA

I have been a Volunteer and now a Manager for this national organization for 9 years. We are always amazed at how far we can make limited resources go. We can reach 50 deployed service members for just $30 and some donated supplies. $3,000 will send 5,000 service members treats and good wishes from a grateful American people. and each one will receive a letter thanking them for their service and sacrifice. The letters we get back prove that a little goes a long way in keeping morale high in-theatre.

The Great!
  • I've seen the results of this organization in... All the letters of thanks we get prove that a small treats and a letter from a thankful civilian does so much to raise troop morale.
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... The camaraderie experienced with all the volunteers who are committed to the mission of supporting the morale of our deployed military
  • The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Kind, caring and committed to the mission
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Reach every deployed service member in every branch of service, every month for years.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Funding for postage and reminding the general public that there are always deployed service members who need our services - even in times of peace.
  • One thing I'd also say is that... Operation Interdependence has steam lined the distribution channel with a LESS is MORE concept. Our overhead is less than 5% throughout the organization.

I see the result of not doing anything for our Vets. So many are left without a way to re-integrate into society after giving their all for us. This organization is a positive action-taking method of helping returning Vets achieve more than a minimum wage life.

The Great!
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Open centers around the country to help many more vets in their local area with face-to-face, hands-on experiences.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Community Support and understanding of the real value of not abandoning our returning Vets once they have completed their service to us and our country.
